In a debate, expect Berdahl to mop the floor with Pernsteiner. But Pernsteiner will prevail in the realm of action. Oregon doesn't care about higher education, has a lot of disdain for UO and its aspirations/pretensions. The new board may go nowhere, and if the union goes through, that will kill any remaining interest of a decent outside president candidate.

What an irony if Berdahl finishes up his spectacular career with a flop at Oregon -- none of it his fault.
